We work with universities and property managers to place detergent sheet refill stations in convenient locations across their campuses. How does it work? Students and/or tenants bring refillable containers to the refill stations and purchase a month’s supply of eco-friendly detergent sheets at a time using a credit or debit card. Functionally, detergent sheets work exactly like traditional detergent, just place them in the detergent compartment of the washing machine. One per load. Environmentally, sheets have only essential ingredients necessary for cleaning and no excess water or single use plastic packaging, leading to a much lower carbon footprint. Generation Conscious encourages all partner schools at minimum to cover the costs of detergent sheets for students who qualify for Pell Grants in order to insure we are addressing the issue of hygiene insecurity. In the long run, we hope to expand to other waste free solid personal care and cleaning products. We have already released our second, a toothpaste tablet. |
